The Apple iPhone has gone through generations of upgrades and has become quite a common mobile gadget today but at one time people were not even sure if such a device existed. Rumors that Apple was working on such a gadget began spreading somewhere in 2007, which was the year in which this device was also released. In fact, July 29th was the year that Apple Inc. officially released the iPhone. Today multimedia enabled and internet smartphones have become a well known name among the cell phone users of today. Apple`s iPod was already a popular gadget in the market then and expectations for this new market phone were high too.
The first generation model marketed and designed by Apple Inc. has now commonly known as the original iPhone. The smartphone has a 3.5 inches optical quality glass screen up front with a home button at the bottom. The aluminum body is caped with a stainless steel rim bevel flush around the face. A toggle for ringtone off, a distinct rocker for ring, headphone, earpiece and speaker volume are present at the aluminum rear. Unlike the iPod, scuffs will not be shown due to the matte finish of its exterior.
At the top left of the back there is the 1600×1200, 2 mega pixel camera without flash. At the dead center of the bottom back area there is an Apple logo. The dimensions of the device are 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.46 inches and it weighs 4.8 ounces. The gadget has three second tier sensors apart from a multi touch screen which include an accelerometer, a light sensor and a proximity sensor. As mentioned it has a multi touch user interface and instead of a physical keyboard it has a virtual one. An ARM design processor is used in the gadget and its memory is alike the iPod nanos.
Apart from all the rest the Apple iPad has a lot more to offer. Its wireless capabilities include Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11 b/g WiFi. It support both the Cingular EDGE and the Quad-band GSM network. While talking, watching videos and browsing the battery life is 5 hours when fully charged, while simply with audio playback it offers 16 hours of battery time. It is merely 11.6 mm thin. It also features Yahoo! e-mail client integration within its POP email support and IMAP. Thus even though it is now considered outdated it still seems quite capable as a smartphone.
